Mansion After Hours: Literary Ladies Night

About the Event
About this Event
Literary Ladies Night invites readers, writers, and curious minds to explore how women’s fiction has evolved—from early romantic storytelling to the books and shows we connect with today. This special Mansion After Hours event looks at what has changed, what has stayed the same, and why these stories continue to resonate.
Hosted by a published author and longtime friend of The Barker Mansion, Sandra L. Young, the evening begins with a brief look at her creative work and the historical walk that helped shape it. From there, the conversation opens to the group. Guests are invited to share favorite books, reflect on familiar themes like love, independence, and identity, and discuss the lasting impact of women’s voices in fiction.
ABOUT THE HOST
Sandra L. Young’s passion for vintage fashion inspired her to write her Divine Vintage series, published with The Wild Rose Press. Sandra lives in LaPorte County, and her series is set in recognizable locations in Michigan City and LaPorte. The novels wrap vintage fashion around dual-timeline romances, historical mysteries, and a ghostly sizzle. She’s researched and gathered a large, impressive vintage collection spanning the late 1800s to 1990s, wearing pieces onstage through years of performing in singing groups and community theater.
Ticket purchase includes a self-guided tour of The Barker Mansion.
