Operations Manager – JOYRide

JOYRide™ is Michigan City’s first micro transit service, offering short fare taxi rides, art and history tours, and event transportation throughout the downtown area. We operate a fleet of pedal-assist tricycles and are passionate about sustainable transportation.

Position Overview

We are seeking an organized and tech-savvy Operations Manager to oversee our warehouse, equipment maintenance, dispatch operations, and special events coordination. This role is critical in ensuring smooth daily operations and maintaining our fleet of e-trikes. This is a part-time seasonal position Memorial Day to October 31 with some low-season pop-up events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain warehouse safety and cleanliness
  • Oversee GPS units, charging banks, and equipment maintenance
  • Perform basic and technical maintenance on e-trikes
  • Manage trouble ticket logs and coordinate with bike mechanics
  • Track e-trike usage and availability
  • Receive and process new equipment orders
  • Hire and supervise part-time shop assistant for trike cleaning and detailing

Dispatch and Customer Service

  • Handle incoming communications (phone, text, email, app bookings)
  • Dispatch drivers in real-time using the GetHapn app
  • Schedule private bookings and special events
  • Prepare and submit incident reports

Logistics and Event Coordination

  • Coordinate private bookings, tours, and special events
  • Manage e-trike transportation and charging for off-site events
  • Collaborate with JOYRide management on event details and cost estimates
  • Coordinate drivers for community events and engagement projects

Driver/Crew Management

  • Maintain communication with lead driver for training purposes
  • Handle staff scheduling, including finding replacements for call-ins
  • Recruit team members for community engagement events

Qualifications and Skills

  • Exceptional organizational and documentation skills
  • Strong communication and management abilities
  • Tech-savvy, with the ability to use GPS and dispatch software
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Willingness to learn to drive and diagnose issues with e-trikes
  • Detail-oriented and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer service-oriented with a passion for sustainable transportation
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time
  • Availability on weekends and summer holidays as needed
