Dune Billies is open for breakfast and lunch.
Friendship Botanic Gardens: If you aren’t familiar with the gardens in the fall, let me tell you, they are absolutely breathtaking in autumn. The leaves are turning, making it the perfect spot for a romantic stroll, a moment of peace, or simply a way to immerse yourself in the best of the season’s colors.
Kolasa’s Polish Peasant: Located on historic Franklin Street, this eatery is another must-visit while in Michigan City. If you’re local and haven’t stopped in yet, put this restaurant on your list! If you’re visiting Michigan City, this eatery will become a regular destination for you. Their hearty menu features homemade soups and unique pierogies. I promise you will leave with a new favorite food after your visit.
Washington Park Zoo: Fall is an incredible time to visit our furry friends at Washington Park Zoo. The summer crowds are gone, and the wooded parts of the Zoo are awash with autumn colors. While you’re there, be sure to climb up the tower for an incredible view!
Pie in the Afternoon: A Slice of Heaven: Located on the north side of Route 12 across from the Lighthouse Premium Outlet, this tiny pie shop is a local treasure! With a great selection of pies, you can buy a slice or an entire pie. This tiny shop is so small (and cute!) that they do not have a dining room. You’ll have to eat your pie to go, which, if you ask any local, is part of the charm of A Slice of Heaven.
Outdoor Patio for a Drink at Ritz Klub: This historic, turn-of-the-century watering hole is a beloved favorite of locals and visitors alike. They have a great menu that serves modern pub favorites, custom cocktails, and old favorites. They also have a large patio to the side of the building that makes a great spot to gather with friends.
Creek Ridge Park: Located just south of Michigan City, Creek Ridge County Park is a treasure for outdoor enthusiasts. From beautiful trails that wind through the park to a playground for children to its dog park, this is a great place to visit. Their dog park is one of the best in our area.
Antiquing at Nanni’s Over the Fence: Located near the highway on the southern end of town, this antique mall is a treasure trove and a great place to visit, whether you’re local or visiting Michigan City. They feature a great selection of antiques and unique one-of-a-kind items.
Ballyea Celtic Jewelry and Designs: Not only is this a charming gift shop with one-of-a-kind items, but this is the go-to for gorgeous jewelry and quality 100% Irish wool sweaters. This shop is a must-stop as they have a wide variety of tartan and wool items, as well as beautiful gifts that are sure to be perfect even for the most challenging friends in your life to shop for.
