Fall is officially here, and you know what that means: sweater weather! There’s something about the crisp fall air that makes us want to pull on our favorite cozy, knit sweater, grab a seasonal coffee, and spend the day in our community. If your sweater collection could use a little refresh this season, you don’t have to go far.
Michigan City has some great locally-owned shops where you can find everything from oversized and ultra-cozy to colorful, quirky, and completely one-of-a-kind. We took a little trip around town to find some of our favorite sweater-weather stops, and now we’re sharing the inside scoop on sweater weather in Michigan City.
Wren on Wabash
Our first stop was Wren on Wabash, where owner Lori has a knack for finding pieces that feel stylish without sacrificing comfort. If you know Lori, you already know that she has a great eye for fashion, and her sweater selection is no exception.
One of our favorites was a big, slouchy sweater with a faded denim-inspired look. It has that perfectly relaxed feel that makes you want to throw it on and head out the door. It’s the kind of sweater that works just as well for a casual afternoon around town as it does for a chilly evening.
Wren also has some sweaters with a fun, collegiate-inspired detail. They come in several colors, making them a great option for fall football games, weekend walks through the park, or adding a little seasonal spirit to your wardrobe. The best part about pieces like these is that they’re easy to wear. Pair them with your favorite jeans, leggings, or casual pants, and you have the perfect fall outfit without having to overthink it.
Line Mullins Group Interior
Next up is Line Mullins on Franklin Street, another local stop worth adding to your sweater-shopping list. This is where we found the coziest, most fabulous sweat set from Copenhagen. And when we say cozy, we mean cozy!
The sweater has a loose, boxy cowl-neck style that feels like the fashion equivalent of wrapping yourself in a blanket. It is incredibly soft and has that oversized, effortless look, perfect for days when comfort’s at the top of your fall fashion checklist. Why stop at a cozy sweater? Line Mullins also carries equally soft coordinating lounge pants to go with the top! We’ll be wearing this one all season long.
ReNew Consignment
If you love fashion with a little personality, make your way to ReNew Consignment. This is the spot for sweaters that are quirky, colorful, fun, and a little different from what you might find at a traditional clothing store. Consignment shopping is also a great way to find something unique and give a pre-loved piece a whole new life.
We spotted a fun cropped sweater with a warm, yellow-orange combination, along with an oversized cowl-neck sweater featuring bold color blocking. Both have plenty of personality and would make an easy statement piece for your fall wardrobe. If your style leans a little more boho, there are options for you, too. ReNew has plenty of pieces that let you play around with texture, color, and layering as the temperatures drop.
And don’t forget, sweater weather isn’t just for the ladies! ReNew also has sweaters and other cold-weather pieces for men, making it a great stop for anyone looking to update their fall wardrobe.
