Summertime in Michigan City is one of the best times of the year. The lakefront comes to life with visitors and locals, and downtown bustles with folks looking to enjoy the weather. However, if you’re not familiar with our amazing community, you may not be aware of all the great places opening for the season, or simply want a seasonal reminder. This blog is the insider’s guide to the best summer spots that will soon be opening their doors for the season.
Farmed and Forged Farmer’s Market
A summertime staple in Michigan City is the Farmed and Forged farmer’s market! Opening on May 23rd, it is one of our personal favorites and a great weekend spot to find a blend of farm-fresh produce, handmade goods, and unique creations. The market will be open every Saturday from 8 am-12 pm for the summer season. It is located on 8th and Washington Street, and is definitely a seasonal spot worth visiting!

A Slice Of Heaven
This roadside stand is small but mighty, and sits in the lot on 309 W Michigan Boulevard. A Slice of Heaven is what we call a hidden gem, because not many people know about it, but it has so much to offer! They serve comfort food, like coney dogs, hot dogs, ice cream, sundaes, and of course, pie! If you haven’t visited yet, definitely add it to your summer to-do list.

They will open on May 22nd and kick off the season with some great shows! Insider tip: if you need a ride back to your car, beach rental, or house afterward, you can always catch a JOYRide.
