Where to Eat & Drink

Michigan City has many delicious dining options to choose from. Here’s some of our favorites for Father’s Day.

Zorn Brew Works

If your dad is beer buff, head to Zorn Brew Works for a tasty handheld and a craft beer that was brewed right here in Michigan City. Zorn is a local brewery that has been around longer than he has. The original brewery, P.H. Zorn Brewery Complex, began brewing operations in 1871. The complex was a self-sufficient operation that included all brewery operations, barrel and glass manufacturing, employee housing, underground refrigeration and a spring-fed water supply. Brewing operations began again in 2016, where they now host live music and great food. If you’re celebrating early, catch Echoes of Pompeii: Tribute to Pink Floyd on Saturday, June 14th at 7:30 p.m.

Fiddlehead Restaurant

For the father with a refined palate, Fiddlehead is the perfect spot to have a meal after spending the day exploring downtown. Their Filet Mignon and Flat Iron steak are the tastiest gift he could ask for. To go with it, try their old-fashioned, or one of their many specialty martinis. Fiddlehead offers something for everyone, with thoughtfully crafted gluten-free and vegetarian options. The beef is even grass-fed. They are open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays, so head downtown to have brunch, lunch, or dinner!

Or, if you and Dad celebrated Father’s Day early, try their delicious hangover burger topped with a fried egg, bacon, and American cheese. KnuckleHeads is known for its great food and atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to grab a burger, beer, and watch the game with dad.

Planning Tips

  1. Make a reservation–If it’s an option, make a reservation early in the week to secure a spot for Sunday.
  2. Check hours and availability–Our guide contains the most current available information for events, restaurants, and gift shops, however, it’s always a good idea to call ahead and confirm details.
  3. Consider the weather–If the activity you have planned takes place outdoors, don’t forget to check the weather and consult the guide for a backup plan. Indiana’s weather can be unpredictable, especially in May.
  4. Make it a day–The activities found in this guide are great on their own, however, Michigan City has so much to offer! Pair a brunch reservation with a zoo visit or a nice day at the beach.
  5. Don’t forget the card–A small gesture such as a card is the perfect touch to a great day!
