Fall is the perfect time to hike. It’s not as hot as summer, the trails aren’t as crowded, and the scenery is stunning. Ambler Flatwoods

This pet-friendly Indiana state nature preserve is over 4 miles long with an abundance of different plants and animals just waiting to be discovered. It is open to the public and offers the perfect space to see all of those beautiful fall leaves. This preserve has over 500 acres to explore, wooded boardwalks, and flat terrain. Be sure to visit this trail for gorgeous views of Indiana.

Mount Baldy Beach Trail

This beach trail is a much shorter hike. However, it tends to be a little more challenging. You’ll enjoy beautiful, sweeping views of Lake Michigan during the fall. The length of this hike is about 0.75 miles, but the difficulty of the hike is moderate to rugged, so be sure to plan ahead. Pets are permitted, so be sure to bring your furry friend for all the fall views. If you would like to hike to the summit, it must be a guided tour by the park staff.

Bismarck Hill Hiking Trail

This hidden gem has three restored dunes and two mature trails just waiting to be discovered. Bismarck Hill Hiking Trail is open to the public, with two wood chip trails traversing the 30-acre site. It is located right next to Washington Park Zoo and has breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. Pets are welcome on this trail.

Singing Sands Trail

This trail is 3.6 miles long with scenic views of Michigan City and the surrounding greenery. The trail is asphalt, so be sure to wear supportive shoes. Singing Sands expands through the wetlands of the Indiana Dunes National Park and then transitions into a more urban setting, following the train tracks. It also goes through the city and enters a park and a marina. Packed with beautiful city views and fall leaves along the way, be sure to give this trail a visit during autumn.

Creek Ridge County Park

This parkland has a series of boardwalks that give visitors a chance to experience the beautiful surrounding nature, including views of deer, foxes, raccoons, and rabbits. The park has open field prairies, wetlands, and hardwood forests. The park even has a no-leash pet exercise area, so bring your furry friend along! Enjoy beautiful fall views at this park.
