If you’ve been a long-time follower of JOYRide, you most likely know our unofficial mascot, Dezi! Dezi is our founder Rose’s dog. He’s a fun-loving Havanese who likes to hitch a ride on our trikes, help out around the warehouse, and most of all, visit the pet-friendly places in Michigan City! If you’re looking for the best spots to visit with your furry friend this summer, this is the insider’s guide to doggy date night in Michigan City.
Creek Ridge County Park
There’s no better place to start your adventure than at Creek Ridge County Park. This is one of Dezi’s favorites, with so many trails to walk, open green spaces, and plenty of opportunities for your pup to sniff, explore, and enjoy the outdoors. The park even has separate fenced-in areas for large and small dogs. It’s a calm and beautiful space, perfect for dogs who enjoy a more relaxed environment.
Brandt’s Old Fashion Emporium
Another one of Dezi’s favorite stops is Brandt’s Old Fashion Emporium, a locally owned pet shop filled with treats, toys, accessories, and much more. The staff is knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is welcoming, making this shop a longtime favorite among local pet owners (and Dezi!) Grab some dog biscuits, squeaky toys, or a brand-new leash for your special furry friend.
Frosty Boy
Summer is made for ice cream, and your dog deserves a treat too. Head to Frosty Boy, a Michigan City favorite, for a frozen treat, and bring along your fuzzy sidekick for a refreshing and delicious pup cup! This is a stop that will keep everyone happy, especially your dog.
Leed’s Public House
Make Leed’s Public House the next stop on doggy date night. This restaurant is perfect for a tasty meal, and its beautiful outdoor patio welcomes friendly, leashed dogs, making it easy to enjoy a relaxing meal without leaving your best friend at home.
Bridge’s Waterside Grille
If your perfect doggy date night includes waterfront views, Bridge’s Waterside Grille is a must-visit. Their dog-friendly patio offers plenty of umbrella-covered seating, making it easy to stay cool on warm summer evenings.
Zorn Brew Works
Zorn Brew Works welcomes dogs at its outdoor tables, where they have umbrellas with plenty of shade and water bowls for your furry friend. Relax with a craft beer while your pup settles in beside you for a calm evening.
Shoreline Brewery
Leashed pups are welcome on the outdoor patio at Shoreline. Choose an umbrella-shaded table or a cozy spot near the fire pit. When you arrive, simply check in at the main entrance with your dog, and a staff member will escort you through the side entrance to the patio.
Ritz Klub Tavern
Visit the Ritz Klub Tavern with your pup for a calm, relaxing meal. Their dog-friendly patio has umbrella-covered seating, water bowls, and a welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for winding down after a day of adventures. Plus, the Ritz Klub is an official JOYRide pickup spot, so grab a ride home after dinner!
Happy Adventuring!
Our community has so many pet-friendly, welcoming spaces for you and your furry friend to explore. We hope to see you and your four-legged best friend spending the day in Michigan City soon!
