Halloween is right around the corner, and there are so many spooktacular events happening in our community! What better place to celebrate the spooky season than right here in Michigan City? The Insider’s Guide to Michigan City has all the scary-good events you need to know to celebrate the holiday this month.
Trick or Treat on Franklin Street
If you’re looking for all the Halloween fun right in downtown Michigan City, look no further than the Uptown Arts District! Trick or Treat on Franklin Street takes place on Saturday, October 25th, 2025. 3-8 pm. There are so many fun activities, including a haunted house, a movie in the park, a costume contest, and of course, trick or treating.
American Legion Trunk or Treat
Get your candy pails ready! The American Legion Franklin Edward Skwiat Post 451 is hosting a Trunk or Treat event. It takes place on Sunday, October 26th, 2025, 3-5 pm. This event is open to the community. Anyone interested in bringing a vehicle and decorating is welcome!
Elston YMCA Trunk or Treat
Put on your Halloween costumes and enjoy a safe and festive evening at the Michigan City Branch Elston YMCA. This event is free and open to our community. It takes place Saturday, October 25th, 2025, 1-3 pm. Join your community for an exciting and fun-filled experience!
Trick or Treat At Lake Hills School
Dress up in your costume and trick or treat at Lake Hills Elementary School on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, 5-6:30 pm. This event is for Lake Hills families only, and students must be supervised.
Burn ‘Em Halloween
Join Burn ‘Em Brewing for their fun-filled Halloween event, Friday, October 31st, 2025, 7-10 pm. Rock out to some spooky jams with That Homegrown Halloween Show and Janky Limo! There will also be a costume contest taking place in between sets. Show up in your best costume for your chance to win a scary good prize: 1st place will receive $250 cash, 2nd place receives a $50 Burn ‘Em Gift Card, and 3rd place wins a Burn ‘Em stein! Cover is $10, with doors opening at 6:30 and the show at 7:00 pm.
Barker Creepy Cottage
Visit Barker Mansion for their Creepy Cottage Halloween Party, Saturday, October 25th, 11 am-1 pm. Barker invites you to step into Halloween magic that’s perfect for young children and families. It’s creepy, but never too creepy. Wearing costumes is encouraged! The event will have spooky crafts, a meet and greet with Sandy Witch, a Monster Mash Dance, and a Trick-or-Treat Surprise.
Haunted Trails at the Gardens
Join the Friendship Botanic Gardens on Sunday, October 26, 2-4 pm to get into the Halloween mood! Admission is $2.00 – $5.00. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for an afternoon of family-friendly fun. The path starts on the wooded trail to the symphony loop and stops at the playground and woodland meadow for games. Lastly, to the Symphony Pavilion for cider and storytelling. The gardens plan to have a bonfire, craft station, food truck, and storytellers.
Boo at the Zoo
Experience Boo at the Washington Park Zoo, Saturday, October 18, 2025, 10 am-4 pm. Enjoy trick-or-treating with the whole family as booths sponsored by local businesses hand out candy along the decorated zoo paths. It is recommended to get advanced tickets due to the limited supply.
Welcome To The Other Side Spooktacular
Celebrate the spooky season at Dunes Summer Theater on Saturday, October 25th, 2025, at 7 pm. The cast from “Welcome to the Other Side!” will be at the event, as well as some of The Dunes’ fearless board members! Doors open at 7 and the show starts at 8 pm. Tickets are $20 at the door to benefit the Dunes Arts Foundation and Dunes Summer Theater! Costumes are encouraged. There will be a costume contest as well. The event is 21+. Join the Dunes Summer Theater for a spook-tacular evening of fun-filled events.
