Football season is officially in full swing, which means it’s time to grab your friends, pick your team, and find a good spot to catch the action. And around Michigan City, there are plenty of places to settle in for a Saturday or Sunday game. We recently went around town to check out a few of our favorite local spots for watching football. With plenty of TVs, great food, darts, popcorn, and a cozy atmosphere, these are a few places worth adding to your game-day rotation.
Local Option
First up is Local Option, and if your biggest game-day priority is making sure you don’t miss a single play, this is a great place to start.
With 11 TVs, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to keep an eye on the game, even if you’re grabbing a bite or hanging out with friends. And speaking of bites, Local Option is also known for its deep dish pizza, making this a solid choice for anyone who believes football and pizza belong together. You can settle in, order some food and drinks, and enjoy the game without having to worry about finding the only seat in the house with a view of the TV.
Knuckleheads
Next up on our football tour is a Michigan City sports favorite, Knuckleheads. They’ve added even more TVs, making it even easier to keep up with the game from just about anywhere in the restaurant. You can grab a seat at the bar, order a drink, and watch the action, or sit down for a meal while still having a full view of the game. When halftime rolls around, you can take a break from the action and play some darts!
Knuckleheads is also under new ownership, and we’re excited to see what’s ahead for this local spot. If you haven’t stopped in recently, football season is a pretty good excuse to check it out and cheer on your team.
Holly’s Restaurant
Looking for something a little more family-friendly? Head over to Holly’s on South Franklin Street! This family- and locally owned spot has a cozy little bar area with about five or six TVs, so you can catch the game while enjoying some food and drinks. It’s a great option when you want a local atmosphere and a place to settle in for a game without all the fuss. And there’s one very important bonus: popcorn. Is there a better game-day snack than a bowl of popcorn while you watch your team play? We don’t think so.
Swingbelly’s
And finally, we had to stop at one of our favorites: Swingbelly’s. Located along Route 12 at the corner of Karwick, Swingbelly’s offers a more intimate setting for watching the game. This is one of our favorite spots for catching college football on Saturdays, especially if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy good food, good drinks, and a great staff while cheering on your team.
There is one important thing to remember when planning your game-day outing: Swingbelly’s is closed on Sundays, so keep this one on your Saturday football list.

Michigan City has no shortage of places to grab a drink, order some food,d and watch your favorite team take the field. Whether you’re looking for a spot with TVs everywhere you look, a cozy neighborhood bar, a little halftime competition, or a good bowl of popcorn, there’s a local place ready for game day. These spots are right here in our community, giving you another reason to get out, explore Michigan City, and support local businesses while you cheer on your team.
